Smart Start PFF (parents, family and friends) is an optional Orientation program designed to enable parents, family and friends to participate in their student's success at UMass Lowell. You play a key role in your student's adjustment to campus. The more you understand about UMass Lowell, the more able you will be to boost your student's success. Smart Start PFF is a special one-day program designed to give you the practical information you'll need to support, guide and encourage your student during this important year and throughout their undergraduate career.
The program will give you an overview of academic services, activities, programs and resources available to your student. You'll get practical information to help you and your student with bills and financial aid. All of our information sessions are designed to be interactive, so bring your questions! This is the time to get the answers you need from professional staff and current undergraduate students.
Sound like a busy day? It's actually relaxing and enjoyable. You'll spend the day with friends and family members of other new students and will have the chance to share concerns and encouragement. The day includes a buffet lunch and campus tours, where you'll see many exciting highlights of the University.
The Smart Start PFF is also our opportunity to welcome you personally to the UMass Lowell community. Faculty, staff and administrators from across the University participate in the Smart Start Program for Parents, Family and Friends. That's because we take our commitment to your student seriously.
